Howard Lederer | Team Full Tilt Poker Player
Howard H. Lederer is a Full Tilt Poker Pro. He was born in Concord , New Hampshire , on October 30, 1964 . Like his sister Annie Duke, Lederer is a world class poker player.
During his early years, Howard was a keen chess player. When he moved to Colombia University , he stumbled upon poker at one of his chess clubs. He soon began playing for money at the Mayfair Club, interacting with the likes of Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel. When he was 29, he decided to pursue his poker career and chase the high stakes poker games in Las Vegas .
Howard's chess background gave him a steely analytical approach to poker. He was soon dubbed as the "Professor" among his peers on the pro circuit.
He created an instructional poker video called "Secrets of No-Limit Holdem." He is also the founder of the Howard Lederer Poker Fantasy Camp. You may recognize his face from TV, co-hosting Poker Superstars and Poker: Learn from the Pros.
Lederer takes a calm, laid back approach to poker. He has a firm belief in Zen theory. Stretched to the limit, he refused to shake hands with wanabee gangster, habitual loudmouth, and fellow pro poker player Tony G, after being KO'd from the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris 2003.
Howard Lederer is also a shrewd businessman. He has a stake in "Tiltware Inc". This company created and developed Full Tilt Poker. Since the disruption caused by the UIGEA, Tiltware changed its name to Pocket Kings and relocated its office on the shores of Ireland .
To date, Howards live winnings have accumulated to almost $5 million. Wins include two WSOP titles and two World Poker Tour titles.
Like many poker players, Howard enjoys the occasional Prop Bet. Known to bet a Vegan, David Grey put down a $10,000 challenge to eat an entire cheeseburger. Howard managed that to collect on his bet. For $10,000 I would eat my own leg. I wonder if David Grey would like to challenge me. If so, I'll be hopping to the bank with my easy winnings.
Howard still lives in Las Vegas with his wife Suzie and son Matthias.
